Programme conditions
Visitors Visa under Section 11(1)(b)(iv) for prescribed activity of remote work, valid for a period exceeding 3 months up to 3 years
Who qualifies
A foreigner required to stay in the Republic to conduct work for a foreign employer pursuant to a contract that partially requires activities to be carried out in the Republic
Documents
- Duly completed and signed application form
- A statement or documentation explaining the purpose and duration of the visit
- A valid return air flight ticket or proof of reservation thereof
- Proof of sufficient financial means, defined as a gross salary of no less than R650,796.00 per annum, via three months of bank statements
- Valid passport which expires in no less than 30 days after the intended date of departure from the Republic
- A yellow fever vaccination certificate if the applicant travelled or intends to travel from or transit through a yellow fever endemic area (not required for direct transit)
- A valid contract of employment signed by both the applicant and the foreign-based employer
- Proof of payment of the applicable fee

If the visa recipient is a tax resident of a country with which the Republic has a double taxation agreement under section 108(2) of the Income Tax Act, 1962, they must register with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) if present in the Republic for more than an aggregate of 183 days in any 12-month period. If not a tax resident of such a country, the recipient must register with SARS regardless
Renewal and residence
No person holding a remote work visa may apply for a change of status to his or her visa while in the Republic, unless under exceptional circumstances as prescribed for visitors visas
