Programme conditions
"Digital Nomad" residence permit for 1 year, renewable for a further maximum period of 2 years
Who qualifies
Non-EU/non-EEA nationals who can perform work remotely using telecommunications technology; employed by a company registered abroad or self-employed offering remote services to clients located abroad
Working for local clients
Holder must work for an employer registered abroad or provide services to clients located abroad; family members are not permitted to work or engage in economic activity in Cyprus
Family
Family members (spouse/civil-union partner and minor children) may reside in Cyprus for the same period as the applicant, but without the right to work or engage in economic activity in Cyprus. They must also obtain a temporary residence permit following the same procedure
Applying & insurance
How to apply
The application must be submitted within 3 months of arrival at the central offices of the Migration Department in Nicosia, either personally or through an authorised representative. If the applicant already legally resides in Cyprus under a different status, the application is also submitted in Nicosia
Taxes & renewal
Taxes
If the applicant resides in the Republic for one or more periods exceeding a total of 183 days within the same tax year, they are considered a tax resident of Cyprus, provided they are not a tax resident of any other country
Renewal and residence
Renewal applications must be submitted to the Civil Registry and Migration Department in Nicosia at least one month before the expiration of the temporary residence permit; after the first year, renewal for up to 2 years is possible
