Programme conditions
Temporary stay (residence permit) for digital nomads, granted for up to a maximum of eighteen months
Who qualifies
A third-country national (non-EU/EEA/Swiss) who is employed or performs work through communication technology for a company or own company not registered in Croatia, and does not perform work or provide services to employers in Croatia
Working for local clients
No — the applicant must not perform work or provide services to employers in Croatia
Family
Close family members of a digital nomad may join them via family reunification; this includes common law marriage partners (together for more than 3 years if childless, shorter if they have a child together or in case of marriage)
Documents
- Completed Form 1a (if applying in person) or online application
- Copy of a valid travel document (passport), valid at least three months longer than the intended period of stay
- Proof of health insurance for the period of intended stay in Croatia
- Proof of purpose: statement from employer/applicant, employment or service contract with a foreign employer, or registration documents of own company
- Proof of means of subsistence (bank statement, proof of regular income, or payslips for the last six months)
- Proof of no criminal convictions from home country or country of residence for more than one year (legalised document)
- Provision of an address in the Republic of Croatia

How to apply
Application can be submitted online, or in person at a Croatian diplomatic mission/consulate (if a visa is required) or at a police administration/station (if no visa is required)
Insurance
Proof of health or travel insurance covering the territory of Croatia for the period of intended stay is required

If temporary stay is granted for less than 18 months, an extension application may be submitted no later than 60 days before expiry; the extension is granted for a maximum of 6 months. A new application can be submitted 6 months after the expiry of the previous permit

If submitted at a diplomatic mission: 55.74 EUR for granting temporary stay and 93.00 EUR for the D visa, or 41.14 EUR for the biometric card. If submitted at a police administration: 46.45 EUR for granting temporary stay, 9.29 EUR administrative fee for the biometric residence permit, and 31.85 EUR for the biometric card (59.73 EUR for accelerated procedure)
